Online poker is a game of poker played over the internet. Compared to the traditional poker card game, the history of online poker is a much shorter affair. The first online poker website was built in 1998, under the name of Planet Poker. Soon online poker evolved quickly and many other online poker companies emerged.There are some major differences between conventional poker and online. One difference is that online poker is played through a computer, which means players are unable to observe reaction and body language by other players. This represents a crucial part as observing reaction and body language is an integral part of the game. Instead online poker relies more on betting patterns, reaction time, speed of play and other non physical behaviors.
Another difference is that online poker can be played anywhere as long there is an internet connection and a computer. This eliminates the time taken for travelling to casinos or even your friend's place for a round of poker. This truly can be a great convenience for poker players.
